We are a living history unit, mounted and dismounted cavalry. We hail from a two state area of Iowa and Illinois. We invite spectators to see what cavalry life was like back in the days of the Civil War and explain some off the tack and weapons we will be using in the event.

Organization portraying John Hunt Morgan's dismounted cavalry skirmishers. Affiliated with the Kentucky Cavalry Brigade, it is a fully democratic, family oriented group of unreconstructed Confederates from Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin.

10th Illinois Vol Cavalry Reg, Springfield, IL, 217-652-1696,
The 10th Volunteer Cavalry strives to reenact the citizen soldier from Illinois. It was formed to provide enjoyable opportunities for individuals and families to experience, learn, and in return, teach others about all aspects of life in the mid-19th century. The American Civil War is one of the most fascinating and defining moments in our history. Everything from the military conflicts and tactics to civilian life with its social expectations and customs, are experiences that our living historians in the 10th Illinois Volunteer Cavalry Regiment attempt to re-create.

We are a family-oriented reenacting group, with an active interest in the American Civil War period, especially the role of the Confederate Infantry. We participate in living history demonstrations and reenactments of the Civil War era for the educational benefit of the public. Our unit reenacts essentially in the Illinois area, but we also attend Indiana, Wisconson, and Iowa events as well as the occasional long distance event.

Celebrating its 35th year in Civil War reenacting, Battery G, 2nd Illinois Light Artillery is one of the premier Civil War reenactment units in the Country. Based in the Rockford, IL Battery G participates in battle reenactments, living history encampments, parades, ceremonies and educational presentations. The unit is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to educate the public about the American Civil War, about the role that field artillery played in the war and about the people who fought and lived through those difficult times. In order to properly educate the public, the unit strives for authenticity in its impressions, uniforms, equipment and encampments.
