The Civilians of Gettysburg 1861-1865 will be sponsoring their annual Lincoln Ball at the Eisenhower Inn and Conference Center (Eisenhower II), 2634 Emmitsburg Road, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania 17325. The event includes light refreshments and a cash bar. Music will be provided by “Smash the Windows” while Drs. Briant and Karin Bohleke will serve as dance masters. The ball will begin at 8p.m. and end at 11 p.m. Attire is 19th century or semi-formal. Tickets are $20.00 per person and may be ordered by contacting civilwardance@earthlink.net or sending a request to CWDS, P.O. Box 3954, Gettysburg, PA 17325. Checks should be made payable to Civil War Dance Society. A few tickets are available at the door. Contact Norma Calhoun to assure availability. |

This conference will consist of a half day of lectures on Friday, March 23rd, with a reception that evening. On Saturday, March 24th, we will visit the Andersonville Prison site and POW Museum. Later that day, we will visit the Civil War Naval Museum and hold our annual buffet banquet at the museum. Sunday morning we will hold 3-4 more lectures. During this weekend you can learn about how soldiers lived, the shelters they used (when they had them), their food, their weapons, how they marched, drilled, and kept prepared to meet the demands of a Civil War soldier. There will be tactical demonstrations, firing demonstrations, among other programs. One program very special and unique to Appomattox Court House, is the Stacking of Arms ceremony along the Richmond-Lynchburg Stage Road. This is the exact spot where General Lee's Army of Northern Virginia laid down its arms for the last time on April 12, 1865. |

The location of our event is Longs' Mariposa Ranch, in historical Mariposa, CA, just outside of Yosemite National Park and on the location of the Las Mariposas Land Grant. There will be a battle reenactment on Friday complete with tactical foot and horse skirmishes and cannon fire
Saturday and Sunday are both jammed full of events including two battles each day, AND a twilight battle on Saturday night. Throughout both days there will be a multitude of other events happening at the camps which the public are invited to attend and observe. Experience first hand a medical station, a blacksmith, a civilian town, cooking and sewing, and other aspects of life during this historical period.
Don't miss hearing Abraham Lincoln recite the Gettysburg Address or Jefferson Davis as he dispels the rumors from the Federal Camp. Listen to Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, and Clara Barton describe their lives and what it was like to be a slave.
